Oz NetLaw is a community based legal practice that provides FREE legal information and advice about internet and e-commerce related law.
Oz NetLaw is part of the Communications Law Centre (http://www.comslaw.org.au), a non-profit public interest centre, specialising in media, communications and online law and policy.
The Communications Law Centre is affiliated with Victoria University in Melbourne.
Legal information is provided:
* on the Oz NetLaw website;
* by email; or
* by telephone.
The Oz NetLaw Website
The Oz NetLaw website provides a one-stop site for legal information on the main issues arising out of the use of the internet, online services and e-commerce.
Information is found by clicking through three main entry points:
* Individual
* Small Business and Start-ups
* Non-profit / Community Organisations
The information is then arranged by activity eg developing a website or dealing with government online.
Aims of Oz NetLaw:
* To help people across Australia, in particular small business, community organisations, information technology start-ups, internet service providers and people in the workplace, to solve legal problems associated with the use of the internet and e-commerce.
* To offer law students and other interested persons practical training about internet and e-commerce related issues and the opportunity to be involved in the Oz NetLaw internet legal practice.
* To present and promote public interest perspectives in debates about legal and policy issues arising from the use of the internet.

Vic Marles - Deputy Director of the Communications Law Centre until May 2002. She is now the Deputy Ombudsman of the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) Scheme.
Lillian Kline who worked as a solicitor in the Melbourne office from October 2000 to June 2002. She has a wide range of experience in intellectual property, defamation and internet related law. Lillian joined the CLC from private practice where she worked as an IT and IP lawyer.
Spiritas Cho who assisted with development of the website from October 2000 to January 2001. She joined the CLC from private practice in Melbourne where she specialised as an IT lawyer. Spiritas Cho now works at Reuters.
Gary Hughes who is a senior lawyer at Gilbert & Tobin and worked with Oz NetLaw from November 2000 to June 2001. Gary was responsible for drafting and editing much of the initial site content and we thank him greatly.
Valentina Josifovski is a commercial lawyer from Gilbert and Tobin who was seconded to the CLC. She primarily practices in telecommunications, information technology (both software and hardware), and e-commerce. Valentina was with Oz NetLaw from July 2001- November 2001, and worked on updating many fact sheets and providing advice.
Nick Alston who is a solicitor at Gilbert & Tobin and worked with Oz NetLaw from December 2001 to January 2002.
Cuong Hoang who is a solicitor at Gilbert & Tobin and worked with Oz NetLaw from January 2002 to April 2002.
Isabella Alexander a solicitor seconded from Clayton Utz in Sydney, was manager of OzNet Law from March to September 2002.
Julie Wilcsek a solicitor who provided legal advice for Oz NetLaw and assisted with website content from May 2002 to October 2003.
